While cold winds still blow throughout our KRVN listening area, this weekend we're going to experience a short breath of warmer air. Many of us will take advantage of it, working on our cars, checking the planter, maybe even dodging some raindrops to spend some time outside without a parka and scarf.  Yep, we're gonna get a little bit of Spring fever. It happens every time we have been inundated with cold for a long time. 40 degrees feels like 70.

Almost two weeks, AccuWeather released its Spring Outlook. Guess what...

If they're right, we're in trouble. BIG TROUBLE.

The commercial weather service announced it is anticipating a stormy spring for many portions of the country, including the Midwest and the Great Plains. “A more active tornado season may be in store for the Plains states,” according to AccuWeather’s Henry Margusity. The press release then closed with this ominous line: “The region could see many more tornadoes than it did during the 2008 season.”

If you remember 2008, you might recall the dramatic, destructive outburst of tornadoes in early May, although it was utterly quiet thereafter.

Is it too early to be thinking about tornadoes?

Here at KRVN we are planning on keeping you updated all the way, storms or not, but we can't PREPARE you.  That has to be done yourself. We're going to keep posting severe weather safety tips here, and we're glad you're stopping y at KRVN.com to do more than sign up for prizes, but PLEASE...pass along the information. Use it in your home. Tell your friends where you're getting the information. Help us save lives.

With that said, here's to a good ole' Nebraska Springtime!
