Donis Oscar (Bud) Wells of Cozad, our great uncle, was a bomber in World War II. Tragically, he survived the war but was killed by a drunk driver shortly after he was discharged. Although most of my family never got to know Bud, he left us his story in an amazing photo album. There are pictures of him with his crew in front of his bomber as well as unbelievable and eerie photos showing enemy planes from above with pieces of their wings missing and smoke trailing behind. They are a very real reminder of the human cost of war and the sacrifices made by thousands of men and women from every walk of life. Amy Biehl-Owens & Beth Rogers
