Your Sen. Ben Nelson has chosen.  He chose the darkness.  I read somewhere that Sen. Nelson in hamfistedly trying to defend his actions sarcastically asked if the people of Nebraska would like him to GIVE BACK the free Medicaid that he brought home for them.  And here is the sad point of the whole situation.  Sen. Nelson can not fathom that among people of character and morality, the answer to his sarcastic question is a completely unsarcastic, unflinching, unhesitating, passionate and emphatic YES.  Give it back.  It is blood money.  It is bribery.  It is unconstitutional.  It is EVIL.

Our elected representatives are so far gone morally and spiritually that they truly don't understand that not every man has a price.  Not every man is willing to sell out to the highest bidder.  Some of us will gladly be thrown to the lions before we offer even the smallest pinch of incense to Caesar.  Yes, Sen. Nelson has curried favor with Washington and thus ensured that he will survive in the regime - at least for a time.  But men of real character understand that it isn't about SURVIVING.  It is about LIVING.  And true, authentic living can only be done in the light.  Sen. Nelson has chosen to merely survive in the darkness.  And for that, he deserves our pity, as do all people who choose hell.

Ogallala, NE.  What is going on out there?  Yowza.  422# steers at $134.60?  Seriously?  With an $82.00 fat market and $4.00 corn?  Really?  With 8-weights at the same sale trading $50 per hundred back?  You sure? 

Kudos to the lads that sold those calves.  Way to unload your EXTREMELY overvalued inventory.  This is the ultimate and most effective risk management in the world.  Any other lads out that way with similar calves should take a cue from the guys who sold last week.  Don't get stars in your eyes thinking it is going to get "better" if you put more weight on.  Those calves were over $200 per head overvalued relative to the fat market.  It generally doesn't get too much more out-of-whack than that. 

To the folks who bought those calves and others like them . . . I'll be in Plymouth, NE January 8-9 and in Phillipsburg, KS on February 5-6.  Come see me.  Tuition is less than you just paid for a 4-weight steer.  Think about it.
