Kenneth Yantiss of Stamford, Nebraska has this week's entry for us. A very nicely restored 1957 Allis Chalmers WD-45 Diesel.
Kenneth says the WD's were made from 1954 to 1957. This particular tractor has the power adjust rear wheels, live PTO and hydraulics and factory options such as a wide front axle and power steering. He says the engine is a 6-cylinder Buda diesel with 230 cubic inches.
Kenneth also told me his dad bought this tractor in 1974 to use with a Massey Ferguson baler. The baler was sold in the early 80's so the tractor had a bit of a rest until it was restored in 1994.
After doing a little more research, we found out there were only 6,509 WD-45 diesels made out of a total production of 90,382. (Of course the others were gas) That makes this one a very nice collector's tractor indeed.
Thanks, Kenneth! Click on the pictures below for a closer look. Send us your tractor to the addresses above. We love showing off your piece of history!
