My name is Dennis O Thorell and I was born on 2-5-45, in Loomis, NE.
I was drafted in Aug. of 1969. I did my Basic & AIT Training in Fort
Lewis, Washington. In Jan. of 1970 to Nov. of 1970 I was in Vietnam
as an infantry rifleman. In Vietnam I was in the field for 8 months
patrolling and ambushing every other night, then my last 2 months
I was with a support group as a Communication Sgt. I was with the 25th
Infantry Division located out of Cu Chi, but spent most of my time in
the Tay Ninh area. My company, along with others, did a 17 day invasion
in Cambodia. When Pres. Nixon ordered us to clean out major enemy
sanctions on the Vietnam-Cambodia order, these were the worst days
of my 10 month & 22 days in Vietnam. I got to come ome early because
President Nixon promised the nation he would bring the troops
home. I came home on Thanksgiving Day.
