I had to install streamtranscoder on a CentOS box recently.  I didn't have time to roll a RPM to install it properly.  Here's install instructions if you want to hack it together as well.  Reminder:  Installing from source on a Red-Hat based distro is *the* way to sully a clean box.  This method will likely work with some tweaks on earlier RHEL/CentOS/Fedora systems as well.
