Thanks so much for your Power Steering post on the 17th.  I myself enjoy learning new words and phrases and injecting them into everyday conversation or written prose.  My current favorite is "quagmire of ambiguity", as in most of the things our government does turns into a quagmire of ambiguity.  When I use this term, most people cock their heads like a dog hearing a strange noise.  I then respond by saying, "you know, like a 'goat rope' or a cluster [expletive that rhymes with fire truck]," only I never use the expletive, because now I have a more suitable phrase to use.  My previous supervisor used to tell me to "strive at mediocrity," but I have been unable to heed his advice and find that the current obstacles I encounter require that I must "endeavor to persevere" instead.  It is my opinion that the oral flatulence that passes (no pun intended) as the chosen vocabulary of our society has declined because people choose not to meditate on great books like the Bible or watch great movies like "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and "O Brother Where Art Thou" (Ann adds "Tombstone" to that list).  They would rather gestate on unhealthy morsels of rubbish while poisoning their intellects watching the latest "reality" programming or texting indecipherable messages to one another, which is 2M2H for me.  Just because one uses email, facebook, or text messaging doesn't negate one's responsibility to use proper grammar.
 
Incidentally, (or as my generation writes "BTW"), my dad and I will be attending your class in Oklahoma City next month.  Dad purchased the videos a couple of weeks ago and has already watched the first two DVDs, calculator and big chief tablet at the ready.  He will be easy to recognize, as he will be the one unleashing a torrent of inquisitiveness.  I will be the one sitting on the opposite side of the room attempting to conceal myself under the table, attempting in vain not to expire from embarrassment.  However, I always look for opportune times to reciprocate.
