Scientists continually search for signs of intelligent life on other planets, but they can apparently save themselves the trouble.  A new survey reveals one in five people in the world believe aliens are right here on Earth, living in our midst, disguised as humans.

A new Reuters Ipsos poll reveals more than 20 percent of people believe aliens walk amongst us as everyday folks.  Still, the majority, 80 percent, don’t think ET is living down the block.

Additional survey tidbits:

    * 40 percent of people in India and China believe aliens are living amongst us.
    * Just eight percent of people in Belgium, Sweden and the Netherlands believe aliens are on Earth.
    * Broken down by gender, 22 percent of men and 17 percent of women believe aliens walk the Earth.
    * The largest majority of people who believe aliens are among us are men under the age of 35.

The poll involved 23 thousand adults in 22 countries.
