Jerry Barnes

Jerry Barnes: Jerry Barnes was born in Richmond, California,
on 2-23-44. He served in the army from 08-20-67 to 05-10-70,
where he was assigned to the Transportation Corps with the
444th Transportation Corps. His rank was Captain. His service
included 2 years in Germnay and 1 year in Vietnam. In Vietnam,
Jerry was in charge of convoys transporting supplies and munitions
110 miles from Qui Nhon over Ankhe Pass to Pleiku. To ward off
the frequent ambushes they would experience, Jerry's outfit
developed the now famous "gun trucks". These were regular trucks
that were armor plated and fitted with a varity of weaponry, including
m-60 machine guns and mini guns.
