The second day of the conference is underway, with breakout sessions on pork, poultry and dairy production.  The overriding theme of any discussion or topic is "we are experiencing the same thing."  Almost all in attendance are aware of the economic situation that is gripping the world, and they are wanting it to get worked out.  There is optimism as Smithfield says there will be expanding in places like Romania.  Smithfield says they have had to change some of the ways they do business, by adapting to the country in which they operate. i..e. if they are in Romania, they are a romanian company, if they are in Mexico, it would be as a Mexian business.  Bottomline they are in business to make those who work with them as profitabile as possible.  AGP plays a big role in this conference and they are in the business of selling soybean meal and pass through protein under the brand name AminoPlus, which is produced at the AGP facility in Hastings.  The evening featured a traditional Hungarian meal at the award winning Wunderlich Cellar.
