1941 Farmall H With Propane Conversion
Posted in Tractor of the Week at 08:56AM on 12/01/2009

This week's classic machine comes from "Nebraska Cowman" from Curtis, Nebraska. It's a 1941 Farmall H that has been converted to propane. This tractor has a special nickname.  I will let him describe this unique machine himself!

"I took it to the national Red Power Roundup in 2008 and it was the only one there. It was hooked up to a milking machine running off the vacuum manifold and sparked a lot of interest. I bought this tractor several years ago from a man near Gothenburg and found out it had more problems than we realized. Someone had overhauled the motor but they did a poor job, skipping some critical parts and installing wrong parts in other places. So, it was torn down again and rebuilt right. It was decided at that time to install the propane conversion which I had on-hand. Also, we installed extra long rear axles and the single front wheel so it is set up as one would be for vegetable crops. One of my friends nick-named it the "Cantaloupe Special" and the name stuck. You can see this tractor and several others, including the Farmall F-20 which was restored (and shown) at the 2009 Red Power show at Madison, WI at my tractor parts store in Curtis, Nebraska. I'm always glad to talk about old tractors and can help you with any problems you might have."

Thanks Nebraska Cowman. There you have it! I would love to see this hooked up to the milker sometime. Another great addition to our classic blog. Click on the pictures below for a closer look.
