Ann,
Holy cow. It gets better. They set it up in such as way that you can only get the $.10 on the 200 lbs OVER the average wt of calves sold in your area. So if the average calves sold from JRS (Joplin Regional Stockyards) weigh 550 lbs, you don’t get the $.10 unless you sell at 750.
Another way they will figure this is that you have been selling 550 lb calves off the cow (your cows) and now you will get an incentive to keep them until they weigh 750 lbs.
This is just to get you hooked. They are offering this to get you interested in the stocker business. Then, over the course of a couple of years, they will reduce this incentive until you get none. Completely wrong on many levels. The Gov wants commercial cattlemen to put weight on calves in MO, not in KS, OK or some other state.
I asked why they require 200 lbs of gain and they stated they were wanting to give the money to people who were putting weight on calves, not to people who were simply trading cattle.

The last time I checked, the only way to make money in a mercantile business was to "trade". And the government, in all its wisdom, is trying to disincentivize and destroy the profit-generating activity. Typical.
SHUN ALL GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION AND "ASSISTANCE" INTO YOUR BUSINESS. It is pure poison, down to the dregs.
Forecasters are killing the North American Cattle Industry.
"Global warming" is a complete fraud designed to advance the cause of socialism and enslave humanity.
Abortion is the murder of an innocent human being and is never justified under any circumstance whatsoever.
Every human being is a question, to which the ONLY answer is Jesus Christ.
