Our old friend Jeff Ludeke from Atlanta, Ne has been a busy guy! His fresh paint is now dry on this beutiful JD 620 he found north of Elm Creek. Plus, he's added some implements!
Jeff fixed up the 620 last year to run his corn picker. The 227 picker was found near Gothenburg sitting in a barn in perfect shape. The owner told Jeff his grandpa purchased the picker new and used it only a few years before it was stored in the barn. The tractor and picker set-up was run last year at Greg Linder's picking bee near Loomis and to pick John Howden's popcorn near Hundley, Ne. The picker worked great and you can view Jeff's videos of his machines on YouTube at by searching Ludeke74.
Jeff says the 50 sheller was purchased this winter near Oxford. It was actually stored in a an old church pew factory for the past 15 years. He says all components look to be in great shape and the thrashing elements still have the square elements on them!
Jeff disassembled all the items and started painting them and here is the finished product. He even had a chance to drive it in the South Central Nebraska Tractor Drive earlier this month with me. (Saw it in person and it is gorgeous) Jeff plans on showing it and driving it in parades before it gets all scratched up at picking bees this fall.
The last picture is off Jeff's 8-month-old daughter Jillian Kay. (what a cutie) Jeff says she was born on his Grandpa Fritz Ludeke's birthday and looks like she's ready to start driving her daddy's trators already.
Thanks Jeff! You are definitely keeping the classic ag spirit alive. I should get some painting tips from you. Click on the pictures to bring up the gallery. And don't forget to send us your tractor to the addresses above!
